x - y = 1....(1)

3 = y - 2x \\ 2x = y - 3 \\ 2x - y =  - 3....(2)

Subtracting equation (2) from equation (1)

 + x  \: \:  \: - y = 1 \\  - 2x + y = 3 \\  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  \\  - x + 0 = 4 \\ x =  - 4

Substituting value of x = -4 in equation (1)

x - y =  1 \\  - 4 - y = 1 \\  - y = 1 + 4 \\  - y = 5 \\ y = 5

( x, y ) = ( -4, 5 )
