(x+y)² =x²+y²+2xy
putting the value of x+y=13 and xy=40
(13)²=x²+y²+2(40)
160=x²+y²+80
x²+y²=160-80
=80
as we know
(x-y)²=x²+y²-2xy
putting the value of x²+y²=80and xy=40
(x-y)²=(-80)-2(40)
(x-y)² =80-80
(x-y)²= 0
x-y=√0
= 0
