as we know that

(x+y)² =x²+y²+2xy

putting the value of x+y=13 and xy=40

(13)²=++2(40)

160=x²++80

+y²=160-80

=80

as we know

(x-y)²=+-2xy

putting the value of +=80and xy=40

(x-y)²=(-80)-2(40)

(x-y)² =80-80

(x-y)²= 0

x-y=0

= 0
