Given ,x+y=3  x=3-y.......(i)

          x-y=1........(ii)

Substitute (i) in (ii)

 3-y-y=1

3-2y=1

3-1=2y

2=2y

y=1.....(iii)

Put(iii) in (i)

x=3-1=2                    Hence, x=2  y=1
