\huge\bf\underline\red{Solution:-}

Given,

x + y = -42 ----------------- eq 1

xy = 441

To find x,y

We know that (x+y)²=x²+y²+2xy

(-42)² = x² + y² + 2(441)

1764 = x²+y²+882

1764-882 = x²+y²

882 = x²+y²

From this we can find (x-y)²

x²+y²-2xy=(x-y)²

882-2(441)=(x-y)²

0=(x-y)²

(x-y) =0 -----------------eq 2

x+y = -42

x-y = 0

_______

2x= -42

________

x= -21

Substuite in eq 1

-21+ y = -42

y = -21

There for2 required values of x,y are -21,-21
