Given :-

x + y = 5 ------(i)

2x - 3y = 4 ------(ii)

using substitution method,

from equation (i), we get

⇒ x = 5 - y

putting value of x = 5 - y in equation (ii)

⇒ 2(5 - y) - 3y = 4

⇒ 10 - 2y = 4

⇒ -2y = -6

⇒ y = -6/-2

⇒ y = 3

now putting value of y = 3 in equation (i)

⇒ x + 3 = 5

⇒ x = 5 - 3

⇒ x = 2

hence, the value of x = 2 and y = 3
