Answer:

x + y = 6

x       = 6 - y ------> equation 1

3x + 2y = 5

3(6-y) + 2y = 5

18 - 3y + 2y = 5

18 - y = 5

   - y  = 5 - 18

   -y   = -13

    y   = 13

x + y = 6

x + 13 = 6

x         = 6 - 13

x         = - 7
