Multiply equation (1) by 3

3 ( x - y = -6 )

= 3x - 3y = -18 ------ (3)

subtracting equation (3) from (2)

8x - 3y = -3

- 3x - 3y = -18

5x = 15

Now , x = 3

Then , we find the value of y

We putting x= 3 in eq-- (1)

x - y = -6

= 3 - y = -6

= -y = -6 - 3

= -y = -9

= y = 9 .

Hence , y= 8 & x = 3 .
