Answer: x=4, y=2

Step-by-step explanation:

   x+y=6

∴ x=6-y ------1

   x-y=2 -----2

From eq. 2

⇒ (6-y)-y=2

⇒ 6-y-y=2

⇒ -2y=2-6

⇒ -2y=-4

⇒ 2y=4         (Canceling '-' as it is in both the sides)

⇒   y=4÷2

∴ y=2

From eq.1

⇒ x=6-y

⇒ x=6-2

∴ x=4
