We have two Equation

x+y=7-----(1)

5x+12y=7---(2)

In this type of case where two equation are given we solve it by various ways such as substitution method or elimination method or through cross multiplication method.

Here, we solve it through substitution method.

We will substitute one variable in terms of another and put into another equation to find out the value of another Variable.

From Equation (1)

x=7-y--------(3)

Now, substitute X's value in Equation 2 so that we find y 's value.

=>5x+12y=7

=>5(7-y)+12y=7

=>35-5y+12y=7

=>35+7y=7

=>7y=7-35

=>7y=-28

=>y= -28/7= -4

y=-4

Now,put y's value in Equation (3)

x=7-y

=>7-(-4)

=>7+4=11

x=11

∴x=11 & y=-4

Check

x+y=7

=>11+(-4)

=>11-4=7

Alternative Method

By eliminating method

x+y=7-----(×5)

5x+12y=7---(×1)

New Equation:

5x+5y=35

5x+12y=7
