x + y = 8

x = 8 - y.......(1)

2x + 5y = 6.......(1)

 \tt substituting  \: (1) \: in \: (2)

2(8 - y) + 5y = 6

16 - 2y + 5y = 6

3y =  - 10

 \orange{y =  \frac{ - 10}{3} }

 \tt substituting \: value \: of \: (y) \: in \: (1)

x = 8 -(  \frac{ - 10}{3} )

x = 8 +  \frac{10}{3}

 \orange{x =  \frac{34}{3} }

HOPE THIS HELPS!!
