(x+y)=9 and xy=14,find x*x-y*y.

x+y=9
7+2=9

xy=14
7×2=14

(x*x)-(y*y)=?
substitute the numbers which you used for the above questions
(7×7)-(2×2)
49-4
45 is the answer.

x+y=9
y=9-x

xy=14
x(9-x)=14
9x-x^2=14
-x^2+9x-14=0
x^2-9x+14=0
x^2-7x-2x+14=0
x(x-7)-2(x-7)=0
(x-2)(x-7)=0
x=2,7


y=9-x
=9-7=2(x=7)


x*x-y*y=7×7-2×2=49-4=45. answer
