Solution

Given:

Equation of eclipse x²/16 + y²/81 =1

since, 81 > 16 the given eclipse is symmetric about Y axis.

From equation , we get,

a = 9 [a²= 81]

b = 4 [b² = 9]

c² = a² - b²

or, c² = 81 - 16

or, C = √65

Length of major axis , 2a = 18

Length of minor axis, 2 b = 8

Exentricity, e = c/a = √65 / 9

AnswEr:-

Equation of eclipse x²/16 + y²/81 =1

As, 81 > 16 the given eclipse is symmetric about Y axis.

=> a = 9 [a²= 81]

=> b = 4 [b² = 9]

=> c² = a² - b²

=>  c² = 81 - 16

=>  C = √65

=>  2a = 18

=> 2 b = 8

Eccentricity, e = c/a = √65 / 9
