x² + 2√2 x - 6 = 0

On comparing x² + 2√2 x - 6 with ax² +bx + c = 0 , we get that a = 1 , b = 2√2 , c = - 6

Apply quadratic formula,

x =\dfrac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^{2}-4ac}}{2a}

x =\dfrac{-2 \sqrt{2} \pm \sqrt{(2 \sqrt{2})^{2}-4(1 \times - 6 )}}{2}

x = \dfrac{-2 \sqrt{2} \pm 4\sqrt{2}}{2}

x = - √2 ± 2√2

x = - √2 - 2√2 or - √2 + 2√2

x = - 3√2 or √2
