First solving numerator which is [ x² - ( x + 1 )( x + 2 ) ].

x² - [ ( x + 1 )( x + 2 ) ]

x² - [ x( x + 2 ) + 1( x + 2 ) ]

x² - [ x²+ 2x + x + 2 ]

x² - x² - 3x - 2

- 3x - 2

Therefore, on simplifying the numerator we get - 3x - 2

Therefore, [ x - ( x + 1 )( x + 2 ) ] = - 3x - 2

Then,

- 3x - 2 / 5x + 1  = 5

- 3x - 2 = 25x + 5

- 28x = 7

Therefore x = 7 / -28

x = -1/4
