Hi ,
Compare x² + x + 2 = 0 with ax² + bx + c = 0
we get ,
a = 1 , b = 1 , c = 2
discreaminant ( D ) = b² - 4ac
D = 1² - 4 × 1 × 2
D = 1 - 8
D = -7
√D = ± √-7
√D = ± i√7
Now , according to Sridharacharya formula:
x = [ -b ± √D ]/2a
x = [ -1 ± i√7 ]/ 2
I hope this helps you.
