 {x}^{2}  -  {y}^{2}  = 9 \\ using \: identity \: a \\  {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}  = (a + b)(a - b) \\ we \: get \\ (x + y)(x - y) = 9 \\ (x + y) \times 1 = 9 \\ (x + y) = 9
