where a, b, c are directions ratio. And (x₀,y₀,z₀) is the point in the plane .

For finding xy plane :
direction ratio is : a = 0 , b = 0 , c = k { because direction ratio is parallel to Z axis but perpendicular to x and y axis.}
so, 0(x - x₀) + 0(y - y₀) + k(z - z₀) = 0
⇒ k(z - z₀) = 0
⇒ z - z₀/k = 0
