complementary angles are angles that add upto 90 degrees

y-20 and y + 30 are complementary angles

so their some sum should be 90

y-20+y+y+30 = 90

2y + 10 ( as +30-20 is 10 ) = 90

2y = 90 - 10 = 80

y = 80/2 = 40

1st angle = y-20 = 40-20=20

2nd angle = y+30=40+30=70

check :

20+70 = 90
