Given : The Y-axis and line x= -5 are the parallel lines

To Find : distance between them

Solution:

Y-axis   is  x = 0

any point of y axis is  ( 0 , y)

line x= -5

any point of line x = -5 is ( -5 , y)

Distance between parallel lines

= √(0 -(-5))² + (y - y)²

=  √5² + 0²

= √5²

=  5

distance between  Y-axis and line x= -5   is  5 unit
