Given, y = 3 and a = 2

 \boxed{ \bold{ \: method \: 1}}

( y )^2 - ( a )^2

=> ( 3 )^2 - ( 2 )^2

=> 9 - 4

=> 5

 \boxed{ \bold{ \: method \: 2}}

( y )^2 - ( a )^2

=> ( y - a )( y + a )

=> ( 3 - 2 ) ( 3 + 2 )

=> 1( 5 )

=> 5

 \boxed{ \bold{ \underline{ \: value \: of \: given \: polynomial \: is \: 5}}}

Hey there!
Given,
x = 1, y = 3, a = 2
y^2 - a^2
Using a^2 - b^2 = (a+b)(a-b)
= (y+a)(y-a)
= (3+2)(3-2)
= 5 × 1
= 5

Hope It Helps You!
