let no. of Rs. 150 shares be x and no. of Rs.160 shares be y

x+y = 27  -----(1)

150x+160y=4200.......(2)

substituting for y in (2), we have

150x + 160(27-x) = 150x -160x + 4320 = 4200

-10x = -120

x = 12

y = 27-12 = 15
