Solution :-

Mean = $\sf\dfrac{Sum\: of\: the\: Observations}{Number\: of\: the\: Observations}$

Sum of the Observations = a + a + 3 + a + 6 + a + 9 + a + 12

= a + a + a + a + a + 3 + 6 + 9 + 12

= 5a + 30

Number of the Observations = 5

Mean = 10 = $\sf\dfrac{5a + 30}{5}$

$\sf 10\times 5 = 5a + 30$

50 = 5a + 30

5a = 50 - 30

5a = 20

a = $\sf\dfrac{20}{5}$

a = 4

$\sf\therefore$ Value of a = 4
