Answer:

= 5.879 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

∵ the diameter of the circle = the sides of the square

∴ the diameter of the circle = 10 cm

∵ the radius = diameter /  2

∴  the radius = 5 cm

∵ let us name a triangle ABC as shown in the figure below

∵ BA = BC = the radius = 5 cm

∵ the shape is regular hexagon

∴ ∠ ABC = 72°

∴ ∠ BAC + ∠ BCA = 180° - ∠ ABC

∴ ∠ BAC + ∠ BCA = 180° - 72

∴ ∠ BAC + ∠ BCA = 108°

∵ BA = BC

∴ triangle ABC is an issoslis triangle

∴  ∠ BAC = ∠ BCA = \frac{108}{2}

∴  ∠ BAC = ∠ BCA = 54°

∵ according to sin role :

 \frac{AB}{ sin 54}  = \frac{CB}{ sin 54} =\frac{BC}{ sin 72}

\frac{5}{ sin 54}  =

∴ BC = sin 72 x \frac{5}{ sin 54}

∴ BC = 5.879 cm
