Answer:

Wavelength = 580 nm

C= Wavelength × Frequency = 3×10^8 m/s

Frequency = C/Wavelength = 3×10^8/580×10^-9 s^-1

= 3×10^8/58×10^-8 s^-1

=0.0517241379 × 10^16 s^-1

= 517,241,379 × 10^6 s^-1

Wave Number = 1/ Wavelength

= 1/ 580 ×10^-9 m^-1

=1/58 × 10^-8 m^-1

=0.0172413793 × 10^8 m^-1

Answer:

frequency= 5.17*10^{14} s^{-1}

wavenumber= 1.742*10^{6} m^{-1}

Explanation:

wavelength of sodium lamp(λ)=580nm=580*10^{-9} m^}

as we know the equation, c = λf

and the velocity of light(c) =3*10^{8} m/s

frequency(f)=c/λ

f=(3*10^{8})/580= 5.17*10^{14} s^{-1}

and wavenumber is nothing but the reciprocal of λ

wavenumber =1/λ = 1.742*10^{6} m^{-1}
