Anniversary is amongst the most memorable days for my family.

We are a unit of just 3 people. I do not have siblings and, needless to say, I am the world for my parents.Hailing from an average economic back ground, my parents have struggled all their life with their jobs and yet, believe me, they have always made me feel as if I was born with a silver spoon in mouth.

Due to personal constraints, my parents could not acquire professional degrees , such as Medical or Engineering, and certainly wanted me to get the highest level of education possible. My school grades were always above average , but I was no extraordinary, for sure. I managed to score a decent rank , to get through a well - reputed engineering college in the city.

Coming to the celebration of my parents 25th wedding anniversary. Being born four years after the wedding , I was 21 and had just finished the final semester exams of engineering. So definitely, I was not employed.

As every child wishes to celebrate their parents’ anniversary with grandeur, putting in some surprise element and really making it memorable for the two, I was no exception.

I had been saving every bit of my pocket money for this day since two years and had the same plan - a dinner party with close relatives, friends and neighbours. (Of course , it was not a surprise for my parents. We 3 had together planned to officially invite the guests home, but certainly , I was the event manager for the evening).

Exactly two weeks before the day, my college authority’s Placement cell published the Recruitment Drive chart and one of the leading MNCs and my dream company’s recruitment date clashed with the anniversary date. ( I know how long the recruitment processes go on, since the companies have just one day in hand to begin with the pre-tests, till the final selection and offer letter distribution).

Being extremely reluctant about appearing for the placement process due to the celebration , initially i was convinced by my parents to cancel the party and go ahead with the drive with complete dedication and determination. But I too put a condition that the party should not be cancelled, since I had put my heart and soul in the preparations. My parents agreed.
