I thought I was going to die. I thought there was no way I could be saved. I had lost all hope and for the last time i looked at my brother from the water, drowning, feeling helpless.
My brother couldn't swim, he had lost his right arm in an accident around 4 years ago. So, it was impossible for him to swim. He looked at me and then to his right and Left to see if someone is passing by, to see if I can be saved somehow, by someone. We both were shouting for help. And then I started to drift away from the world, from the surface of the water, drowning. I felt the cold water cover my face and I started to feel breathless. The faces of my loved ones were flashing Infront of my eye. I thought I was seeing them for the last time.
Suddenly, someone grabbed my hand, started to pull me out of the water. I couldn't see, I was short for breath and everything seemed to look as if blurred. But I thought that someone had come. Someone had come on hearing me and my brother's wild cries for help.
Next I remember, is seeing my bedroom and feeling my soft bed. it felt great to be home again. On seeing me open my eyes, my mother came to me and started asking me many questions all at once and said that she's really happy and grateful to God that I was fine.
She told me that my brother, yes, my brother, who couldn't swim but that day he had, had rescued me. He had jumped into the water, pulled me out and saved my Life.
I was surprised on hearing this but I was also thankful to him and God. If he hadn't been there that day then, I wouldn't have been here, telling this story.
I understood that day the meaning of the sentence-
'A hero lives in all of us...'
