With the increasing popularity of online media, the habit of reading newspaper is fast disappearing, especially among the young.
There was a time when students, before leaving for school, read through the daily newspaper and made sure they understood the important news of the day. Their parents also supported them in this by explaining topics to them. Some schools even to this day, have students read out the important headlines for the day, in front of the whole school. This not only increases the child’s knowledge but also improves his/her oratory and presentational skills.
It helps to get rid of stage-fright and pre-event jitters, making them confident. Schools should bring back this system of news presentation by students, which will benefit them by way of increased knowledge and confidence.
