The Editor,
Times of India,
Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg,

Dear Sir,

It is a matter of immense pleasure for me to write to you, expressing my views on the Children's Day celebration in my school.
I study in Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan in Agra. Every year we celebrate Children's Day with a lot of gaiety and fervour. This year the celebration on 14th November was no different.
Our day began with the morning assembly, which was an extended one on account of the special occasion. The Principal gave a speech on Jawaharlal Nehru. He elaborated on the way India's first Prime Minister loved and promoted the cause of children in independent India. After the assembly, we went to the school auditorium, where an exhibition was held on the life of Chacha Nehru and his love for children pictorially displayed.
While I appreciate our inclination to remember the leaders of the past and recall their good deeds, I fail to understand why we have not been able to carry forward their unfinished task. Child exploitation and abuse is spreading like cancer; unless this is arrested and a positive direction given by our elders, our society will stand accused of ruining the lives of future generations. Through you, I wish to sound a warning bell in this regard.

Yours faithfully,
Arun Kumar

Respected Sir,
Subject: Celebration of Children's Day
This year Children's Day was celebrated in a grand way in our school. We had an elaborate function in which all the children took part in different programmes. Each child was given a gift and a book about great men. In the afternoon the school had arranged for a feast for everyone. The food was delicious and the ice creams were a real treat.

The teachers made special efforts to make the children happy. They also presented a programme which gave a lot of joy to the students. Some young teachers even sang and danced for the children. It was a very special day for all the students and teachers. It helped to break the ice between the students and teachers and promoted comradeship and harmony amongst the students.

Yours Sincerely,
Aarti Menon
