                                        Literacy Campaign

                                         By Beena Bharath

Our school student volunteers took part in the literacy campaign organized by HR Ministry along with local NGO, Vidya. The campaign was organized in the villages adjacent to the city. Students from our school along with volunteers from the other schools taught the children and adults basics of English, Hindi, Math, and Sciences. The volunteers also appealed to the villagers to send their children, especially the girls to the schools. We as a team enrolled 250 girls in the village schools. It was a unique experience working outside the classroom in a real-life situations.

The District Education Officer also visited the literacy campaign sites and praised the volunteers. Such literacy campaigns are extremely important for our country to achieve the goal of 100% literacy. India is a fast developing country with the ambition of becoming a fully developed country as soon as possible. This ambition can only be fulfilled in the condition of 100 % literacy. Such literacy campaigns will definitely will play a vital role in making a vibrant and enlightened India.

Literacy Campaign

Our city held a grand literacy campaign in this month. The campaign was inaugurated by honoured minister of the city. There were many volunteers for this campaign and I was one of them. This campaign was held in outskirts of the city to help adults and children in learning the basics of science, math, hindi, english and social studies. We appealed to the parents to send their children to schools. At the end, more than 100 children were enrolled in the nearby schools. It was a great experience for all of us outside the school life.

In addition, the Education Officer came to visit the campaign and appreciated us for our work. these kinds of campaigns are imperative to achieve 100% literacy rate in our country. This literacy campaign will obviously assume and imperative part in making a better and vibrant country.
