You are given a 4l and 5l jar completely filled and an empty jar . You have to fill empty jar to 7l. Refilling of beakers was not allowed. Water can neither be thrown, it can only be transferred from one jar to another.

Answer:

Explanation:

the steps of refilling the empty bottle to 7 liters:

1) Pour the 4 liters of water from the 4 liter jar into the empty jar.

- The empty jar now has 4 liters of water while the 4 liter jar is empty.

2) Pour the 5 liters of water into the empty 4 liter jar.

- The 5 liter jar will have 1 liter left in it.

- The 4 liter jar is now full of 4 liters of water

- The initial empty jar has 4 liters of water.

3) Pour the water from the 4 liter jar into the initial empty jar.

- The 4 liter jar is now empty

- The initial empty jar now has 8 liters of water.

- The 5 liter jar has 1 liter of water.

4) Transfer the 1 liter of water from the 5 liter jar to the 4 liter jar.

5) Fill the 5 liter jar with the water from the initial empty jar ( contains 8 liters).

- The water left in the initial empty jar is 8 liters - 5 liters  = 3 liters.

- The initial empty jar now has 3 liters of water.

6) Fill the 4 liter jar with water from the 5 liter jar

7) Transfer water from the 4 liter jar into the initial empty jar containing 3 liters of water.

The jar will now have:

3 liters + 4 liters = 7 liters of water
