It is very easy to to identify the polarities of the magnets when they are provided with a thread and bar magnets.

Tie thread to the bar magnet and hang it then magnet will rotate along with the direction and one and points towards the north the pointed and will be the north pole and the opposite one will be the South Pole.

We can find out the polarity of the bar magnet.

In case of the second magnet one and is brought in contact with the north pole of the first magnet if it repels then and the repelled phone will be the north pole of the second magnet and if the pole is attracted then the pole is the South Pole.
