You are given refractive index of kerosene = 1.44, refractive index of turpentine
= 1.47 and refractive index of water = 1.33. In which of these does the light
travel fastest?

Answer:

Vacuum has a refractive index of 1 and light travels at a speed of 300,000,000 metres per second in it. Lower the value, faster the speed of light in the medium. Since turpentine has the largest value of RI, light will travel the slowest in it.

Light travel faster in water as compared to kerosene & turpentine as the refractive index of water is lower than that of kerosene and turpentine. The speed of light is inversely proportional to the refractive index.
