Copper does not corrode very quickly under normal environmental conditions. Corrosion is the deterioration of a metal or alloy. Anything which makes copper dissolve is also a form of corrosion. The best way of dissolving copper quickly that I can think of is to add it to concentrated nitric acid (in a fume cupboard for safety as lots of noxious gas is produced). The next best would be to dissolve the metal in concentrated sulphuric acid and heat it - also in a fume cupboard for the same reason, plus hot sulfuric acid is something that should only be used by a teacher or technician.
