It is 12:30 p.m. , Wednesday, September 14, 2016. I am standing at platform number 1, waiting for Shatabdi Express to arrive from Delhi. My mother is returning from attending a wedding function. All around me there is noise. The announcer is incessantly announcing the arrival, departure of trains along with the train numbers and their arrival and departure timing. She is repeating the information about the delayed trains. My mother's train is also delayed by an hour. People are waiting for the train to arrive. Trains are arriving very slowly at different platforms. The platforms begin to team with human activities as the train stops and thousands of passenger get off and on them. An electrical cleaning vehicle with mop is cleaning and mopping the platform. The tracks are awfully dirty and unhygienic. They are stinking badly.
