You can do it!
Florence Nightingale was from a rich family in England.
From the age of twelve she used to think of others' needs.
She took care of the farmers who fell ill at her father's
estate. Once she saved the life of an old shepherd dog that
had broken its leg.
When she was sixteen, Florence visited hospitals in London
and in the neighbouring areas. She convinced her father that she wanted to study nursing.
During the Crimean war, Florence went to the battlefield with thirty-eight nurses. The
hospital in the barracks was dirty but she cleaned it and filled it up with supplies. She walked
in the halls of the battlefield hospital with a lamp. With her care and love, Florence saved
thousands of lives. She was known as the 'Lady with the Lamp'.
Wherever you are, touch others' lives with acts of kindness.
