you can see blood vessels on the outside of the hand specially in older people are those veins or arteries ? How can you confirm your answer

they are called veins as they are superficial and have thin walls. whereas arteries carry oxygenated blood with high pressure, so they are deep and we can't see them

They are veins because arteries are deeper inside and can't be seen like that....it can be confirmed because the blood vessels look blue because they contain deoxygenated blood which is the function of veins.
