EXPLANATION:

• Question tags are grammatical structures wherein an imperative and declarative statement is converted to a question by adding an interrogative fragment. In other words, 'question tags' are short questions which we put at the end of any sentence, especially in spoken English.
• There are many different question tags; however, the rules are not tough to understand. If the key part of a 'sentence is positive', the 'question tag is negative' and if the 'key part of a sentence is negative', the 'question tag is positive'. Question tags use the same verb (for instance auxiliary verb or model verb etc.) as the key part of a sentence.
• A question tag can be a ‘real’ question where we need to know the answer or asking for an agreement where we know the answer. If question tags are real questions we use rising intonation, that is, our voice tone rises. If we know the answer we use 'falling intonation', that is, our voice tone falls.
