You have 8 balls which are identical(completely). you are given a weighing scale. how many times would you measure to get the odd ball out?

since they are identical they must be measure 8 times to to get the odd ball out because their must not be same so..

well you didnt told either the ball is heavier or lighter than other balls i am assuming here heavier

we will make groups and them weigh them
first two groups to be made are with 4 balls each and then we will weigh them the group which is heavier will be chosen as it would surely have the heavier ball and then out of 4 balls two groups are to be made each of 2 balls
and then weighed the one with more weight is group with our ball
and at last we will weight the 2 balls 1 at each side
so we will get to know which is heavier
