The ozone layer is a layer of gas in the atmosphere that acts as a film that protects us from the hazardous ultraviolet radiation  from the sun. It is essential to protect this ozone layer from depleting in order to protect us from the harmful effects of these UV radiations.

We can protect the ozone layer by:

1. Avoid the use of gases that damage the ozone layer. Example: CFC (chlorofluorocarbons), nitrous oxide, methyl bromide, halogenated hydrocarbon.
2. Minimize the use of cars. Use public transport or walk, and try to reduce carbon emissions.
3. Don't burn vegetable matter.
4. Avoid using cleaning products that are harmful to the environment.
5. Buy local products. This saves transportation and consequently less nitrous oxide and carbon emissions.
6. Maintain air conditioners.
