saltwater fish will have a higher concentration of salts in the cells than the concentration of salts in the water causing them to be hyper tonic. Through osmosis, the fresh water will want to go into the cells and the fish will not be able to handle it and die.
Hope it will help you

Explanation of inability of fish to survive in the aquarium as follows -

  • Saltwater fish has a high concentration of salt in comparison to freshwater aquariums. This will result in endosmosis condition.
  • This will occur because water will move from its high concentration in the aquarium to a low concentration in fish. Fish will bloat and eventually die. Thus, seawater fish will not survive in freshwater aquariums.
