You have read about Lencho in ‘A Letter to God’, First Flight, textbook in English for Class X. How has the story of Lencho moved you? What do you think about Lencho’s faith in God and his attitude towards the officials in the post office? Do you think he is right in asking God for support and then blaming the people at the post office? Discuss his actions with your friends. Why does he do so?

Answer:

The story taught me that we should have faith in god as lencho did and the post man colleted the money and gave his salary to help lencho, the poor farmer . The attitude of lencho towards post office officials was not right but for the faith in god he was able to get some money. But he was right in asking for the support of god but blaming the post office was not good . He blamed the officials as he didnot knew the truth which was hidden

Explanation:

  • The story touched me in both good and unpleasant ways. I say unpleasant because of the discontentment manifested by Lencho on receiving 70 pesos and not 100.
  • He couldn’t think for a while that he was blessed with some amount of money at a moment when he had nothing. He missed being thoughtful before accusing the officials in the post office.
  • However, it is the human tendency to be skeptical especially in this world of so many betrayals and disloyalty. But, it is also astonishing to see his steadfast faith in God even during the discontented state.
  • In the end, we’re all the creations of God who should have undying faith in him while also try to be considerate about Godly creations.
  • From the time, the faith in religion was established, the only way to attain peace and get our needs fulfilled has been prayer. Prayer is a way to connect with the Supreme Power and the modes chosen to connect might be different.
  • Not everyone has the wisdom to do everything perfectly, as in this story, Lencho was wise enough to seek Lord’s help for fulfilling his needs, however, he lacked the wisdom to not blame the officials whom he thought have taken a part of his money as a mark of disloyalty.
