If my library serves youth, you may find that you need to respond to a concerned adult — such as a parent, guardian or board member — about resources and services in your library. This document is designed to help you explain how and why your library selects the resources it provides. It can also help you respond to questions and challenges about material that adults may consider inappropriate. Remember that it’s always best to be prepared by developing a collection management policy that includes procedures for how your library will handle requests for reconsideration of materials before such an occasion occurs. Please be sure to contact the Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF) if you need guidance in developing your policy and procedures.
