You know and you must have observed that girl child education is ignored in our country, specifically in remote areas. Take up a project to find out the reasons of the above with the help of the following:
Step-I Prepare a questionnaire pertaining to the information you need.
Step-II Contact at least six households of your locality to find out the reasons.
Step-III Based on the information received, write a report and draw a programme to motivate parents and girl child education

It is very important that you frame questions carefully in the Questionnaire. For instance, it may be important to find out the income, since it is assumed that poor people may avoid sending girls to school. Keep questions relating to income at the end (since it is sensitive information). Even better, ask for the monthly expenditure rather than monthly income. Find out about social beliefs, rituals of the community (such as that the girl child is to be married with hardly any economic value).
For motivating parents, you must have facts at hand to prove that girl child education is important. Talk of how girls usually outshine the boys in the national exams. Talk of local heroines. Mention the incentives that the Government is giving to educate the girl child. For instance, the Bihar (a state in eastern India) Government gives free bicycles to the girl child if she continues her education after Grade 8. Mention the fact that educated girls have lesser pregnancies, are more healthy, are likely to be more aware of modern products such as sanitary pads.
However, one must be sensitive of the beliefs, rituals of the community.
