You lift a box weighing 200 N from the floor to a shelf 1.5 m above.
a) What is the maximum work done by the force you exert on the box?
b) When would the work be greater than this maximum?

a) w=f*d
200*1.5
b) at ground we have to work maximum

Given is the weight of the box to be lifted as 200 N.

The height to which it has to be lifted is 1.5 m above the ground on to a shelf a)        The maximum work to be done by the force exerted in lifting the box can be found out by the formula

                                                  W = f x d.

So f = 200N and d = 1.5m

we get,

                                            W = 200 X 1.5 = 300

b)       The work done would be greater than this force is when the box is at the ground. To lift the box from the ground maximum force has to be applied.
