You made a presentation in the class despite many obstacles. The teacher appreciated you. Make a diary entry in 100-150 words about your experience. You are Samir/Shalu.

Dear diary,

Today was an eventful day! My presentation on the Emergence of Hitler in the Early Twentieth Century, for which I had been working on for days, was applauded by my history teacher at school and I could not have been happier!

A fortnight ago, Miss Dutta gave us an assignment to create a PowerPoint presentation on one particular historical event, from our school syllabus. I was troubled with the topic selection itself. Some of my classmates were working on the Italian Renaissance, while others were working on the Indus Valley Civilisation. However, I conceived the idea on Hitler from my current read - The Diary of Anne Frank. However, the research on Hitler was tougher than I expected. I borrowed a number of books from the school library, on Nazism and the rise of Hitler. I visited the local libraries too. At one point, I had to bunk my classes to stay back at the library, reading about Hitler's childhood and youth. But, the worst was yet to come. Day before yesterday, I had to visit a cyber cafe to assemble all the data into the presentation. I was about to leave when I saw that my pen drive was malfunctioning. The owner helped out, but all in vain; I lost every single file from the pen drive, including the presentation. I was at my wit's end, but I had to return. At home, I started writing down all the vital points of the presentation that I could recall. Next day at school, I went to the computer lab during recess, and immediately started working on my presentation. I was done with my file within an hour. Today, I was successful in presenting my PPT and narrating other vital facts surrounding Hitler's popularity in Germany. My friends congratulated me, while Miss Dutta shook my hands and blessed me. I still cannot believe that I pulled off the presentation in such a short while. Well, all's well that ends well! Good night!

Dear diary,

Today was a special day for me. I gave my presentation  in biology class. I believe that God was all set to test me as I started facing all sorts of hurdles from the last  two days. Firstly, the battery of my father’s laptop on  which I was preparing the presentation, had run out  of its course. The shopkeeper took a day to replace it.

An hour after getting back the laptop on  Saturday, I started vomiting and felt feverish. The  ‘rainy’ football sessions had done their work. Though  I tried hard, I couldn’t keep my burning eyes open. I  was tensed and cranky. I fell asleep soon after taking  medicine. I was happy to get up fresh, fit and fine  but I was left with just one day. I worked through  the night to incorporate my teacher’s suggestions, edit  the slides and get a shadow image of my presentation.

As I started giving the presentation, a strange  confidence and flow worked in me. I breezed through  the presentation and answered the audience's questions  convincingly. My teacher was so happy that she not  only praised me but gave me some extra marks for it.  I realised that hard work never goes waste.

Samir/Shalu
