Answer:

You need to move 105-kg sofa to a different location in the room. It takes a 403-N force to start the sofa moving.

mu = F/N = 403/105×9.8 = 0.4

The coefficient of static friction between the sofa and the carpet will be 0.4

Given:

Wight of sofa  = 105 kg

Force= 403 N

Explanation:

weight = mass × acceleration due to gravity 105 × 9.8  =  1029

the mass in given in KG but we work in Newton so to convert it we multiply the mass with  9.8

acceleration = Zero

when it says (constant speed, uniform velocity, maximum velocity)

force = resistance

substitute force with 403 N and resistance with 1029 × μ

                                     403 = 1029 × μ

                                          μ = 1029/403

                                             = 2.553

Answer = 2.553
