You recently read an article that Rajasthan and Delhi Government banned selling
and purchase of Firecrackers prior to festive season. You appreciate the timely
action as firecrackers are not only big source of air pollution but also noise pollution.
Write an open letter to The Chronicle, a daily suggesting other ways to curb
pollution. You are Rohit/ Rohita A 91, Deepmala society, Jaipur. Write the letter in

Subject: Need to further reduce pollution
Dear Sir
The purpose of this letter is to highlight the seriousness of the issue of pollution. The state governments' banning the sale of fire-crackers is a significant step but needs to be followed up with more measures.
Noise pollution in particular can be reduced by not honking unnecessarily on the roads. Similarly, a conscious effort can be made by schools to deter littering by children. Further families can pledge to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible.
Additionally, these steps are applicable all through the year; festive precautions are not enough. It takes a lifetime to deal with pollution, but only a few minutes to act responsibly. I hope the citizens wake up to their duty towards the country.
Yours sincerely
Rohita
