You recently read the historical evidence and account of Anne Frank and Nelson Mandela, its content
greatly moved you a lot. Drawing reference to the chapters write an article on ‘The Captivity : Breaking
down the shackles.’ Or ‘Born to be Free’ in about 120 words.

- Freedom is desired by all living beings: be it animals, birds or humans.

- All across history, there have been instances of human bondage and slavery, oppression and discrimination.

- Hitler's rule saw hate crimes against Jews that were abominable.

- Anne Frank and her family were forced to live underground, away from the watchful eyes of the Nazi administration to save their lives.

- But, a life of captivity is not a joyous one: it has many restrictions.

- There are restrictions of physical space, dearth of basic amenities and supplies, no room for comforts or luxuries.

- But, the human spirit cannot flourish in captivity: it needs to break down the shackles.

- Anne Frank's diary was a true reflection of the hardships and struggles of the times while bringing forth the ultimate triumph of the free human spirit.

- Whether it was the Indian freedom struggle headed by Gandhi or the South African one spear-headed by Mandela, the shackles of slavery and oppression have been eventually broken down by perseverance and patience.

- Mandela fought against apartheid and achieved a stupendous non-violent victory for the people of his country.

- Man is born to be free!
