Distance covered = 100 metres

By running            = 5.0 metres/second By walking            = 1.0 metre/second

Average speed     = 3.0 metres/second

Distance covered is the same i.e. 100 metres.

Average is calculated as Sum divided by the count. Hence it will be (5 + 1)/2 = 3.
