Answer:

Problem: The light bulb does not come on when i flip the switch.

Hypothesis: The light bulb is burned out.

Gather Data: If I change the light bulb (independent variable). then the light will turn on (dependent variable).

Experementation: First remove the light bulb and screw it back in tightly to make sure that it was not loose. If that does not work, take the bulb from a lamp you know is working and place it in the broken lamp. If that lights, try another bulb to be sure.

Analysis: The light didn't turn on.

Conclusion: The lamp lit after the bulb was changed, therefore the light bulb must have been burned out.

If the bulb is not glowing, there might be problem with the circuit or any of the circuit components.

Explanation:

  • If switching on the bulb has no affect on working of the bulb, then there might be some issue with the bulb. The bulb might have fused off, which means that the fuse wire inside the bulb might be broken.
  • Second issue might be regarding the wire of the circuit. The wire that connects all the electrical components involved here, might be broken which has lead the circuit to be incomplete i.e. source voltage is unable to reach the  load and so switching on the bulb does not let the bulb to glow.
